Share with us how you prepared for employment.
I started working for LG Display through the industry-academic scholarship program, 'LGenius.’
I applied in the 2nd semester of my 3rd year, passed the personality and aptitude tests, and the
interview camp and my employment was determined from my 4th year. From the beginning
of the 3rd year, I participated in technical talks, LG young challenger camp, and other activities
hosted by the company. In particular, with regard to preparing for employment, I solved sample
questions through employment counseling office to prepare for the personality and aptitude tests,
and I think that helped a lot.
I’d like to know why you selected the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and how it has
helped your employment.
Actually, I was constantly thinking over my major before admission until the end of my 2nd year
because I felt that I wasn’t interested in or talented in a particular subject. Then, through Professor
Kin-Choong Yow's programming class, I thought that programming would keep me interested. I
selected electrical engineering as my specialization, and I think taking a few programming classes
additionally was also lucky for me.
You graduated GIST with excellent grades. What was the key to building a diligent school life and
outstanding career?
First of all, there were a lot of things that I had wanted to do. There were also a lot of club
activities that I wanted to take part in. I think taking part in lecture club activities, infinite challenge
project, summer semester at Berkeley, Technion start-up program, and travelling with friends
during semester and vacations helped a lot. Looking for small things that healed me, and thinking
about the small compensations that I could reward myself with helped me endure it all.
In terms of studying, I was able to fully understand the classes and organize thanks to the
professors who were always open to questions and counseling after lectures.
What would you like to tell the juniors majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
who are worrying about their careers after graduation?
I contemplated continuously about my career even after my qualification was announced.
Whether graduate school and employment or even other careers, I think it is necessary to realize
that you have to sacrifice to do well. And I hope that you wouldn’t be too afraid of worrying.
Because you are much greater and more fabulous than you think. I’m sure that you would boldly
make your way through the path in front of you.
